Lost Priver Pride

Scholarship

The Lost River Pride Scholarship is specifically designed to empower and inspire students in Grant, Hampshire, Hardy or Pendleton Counties who have actively engaged in activities that promote equality and oppose discrimination.

 

Any high school senior or prior year graduate with financial need enrolling in an accredited college, university, or community/technical/trade school who matches other qualifying criteria is eligible to apply. Preference will be given to students who choose to continue their education at a West Virginia institution.

Mission

Lost River Pride is organized exclusively for charitable and educational purposes. It sponsors and produces the annual Lost River Pride Event, and related activities, serving the Lost River Valley lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning (LGBTQ+) communities, by educating and advocating nondiscrimination, diversity, pride, inclusion, and equality among the LGBTQ+ community and their allies throughout the Lost River Valley and beyond. The corporation celebrates pride in diversity, community, and shared cultural history.

The Hardy County Community Foundation Lost River Pride Scholarship benefits graduating seniors or prior year graduates from any high school in Grant, Hampshire, Hardy, or Pendleton Counties. Eligible applicants must: 1) have a minimum GPA of 3.0 at the time of completing this application, 2) demonstrate a financial need, 3) plan to attend an accredited college, university, community/technical/trade school (with a preference to schools within West Virginia) and complete a program of not less than two years, and 4) demonstrate support of and advocacy for the LGBTQ+ community by having actively engaged in activities that promote equality and oppose discrimination.  Award amount: $1,000.
